No Cold For The Old - Fuelling Kindness One Home At A Time
Hi, I'm Sam Taylor. In January 2025, as I turned 40, I made a personal commitment to run 40 kilometres every month throughout the year. Each kilometre became a step towards one goal: helping local pensioners stay warm during winter 2025/26.
From that commitment, No Cold for The Old was founded, a community led fund dedicated to relieving hardship among older people in Staffordshire by providing access to warmth, essential items, and vital winter support.
What began as one challenge quickly grew into something far bigger. With incredible community backing, people have joined forces to take on events, raise funds, and stand together to ensure no older person has to choose between heating and other basic needs.
Because everyone deserves to feel warm, safe, and supported in their own home.
A canal challenge with legs... and heart.
The challenge:
In teams of 3, farmers carry kettlebells from Trentham Canal to Stone then lunge the whole way back -
roughly 5 miles each way.
It's about teamwork, grit, laughter, sore legs, and doing something meaningful for a cause that keeps people warm and cared for.
If you love a challenge, fancy something different, or just want to be part of something bloody brilliant... this one's for you.
This year we’re doing something special for the longest day of the year.
The challenge:
On Sunday 21st June we’ll be climbing Scafell Pike, starting in the early hours of the morning, with one goal… to reach the summit in time for sunrise.
Our climb will begin around 2:30–3:00am, headtorches on, boots laced, and spirits high as we make our way up England’s highest mountain together.
We take on the streets of Stoke-on-Trent for the 6 Towns Challenge.
The challenge:
We’ll run to all six towns, and at every stop we’ll complete 6 rounds of a workout before pushing on to the next.
This isn’t just about miles.
Every step helps raise funds for No Cold for The Old
Whether you run one section or the whole route, we want as many people as possible joining the team.
